When we talk about people, sustainability at Zurich relates to the way we treat our employees; our interactions with customers; and our support of the most vulnerable members of society in collaboration with the Z Zurich Foundation, a charitable organization funded by various members of Zurich..
Aspiring to sustainable people practices is the essence of our people vision, and this aspiration is embedded into our Sustainability Framework.
We support the development of our people’s skills and careers so they remain employable, now and in the future, enabling the continued success of our business. We empower our people to grow their talents, giving them the chance to acquire new skills and refresh their existing ones, and providing a network of senior mentors. We take great pride in recruiting internally and aim to maintain our high internal hiring ratio.
We also sustain a distinct culture and a positive work environment that attracts, engages and retains our people. We value and respect our people’s contribution and care for each other.
We value diverse perspectives, aim to foster a sense of belonging and always look to uphold fairness – not least because diverse minds create more innovation and feed the success of an enterprise. We lead by example, which is why our Board of Directors is composed of 41.7 percent women. And why the number of women in senior management roles is up by more than 10 percentage points since 2017 to 32.1 percent at the end of 2024.

Putting people at the heart of our People Sustainability aspiration, we invest in our communities, working closely with the Z Zurich Foundation, the main vehicle by which Zurich Insurance Group delivers on its global community investment strategy, and through the efforts of our local offices around the world. We share our resources and expertise to help build more resilient communities, adding value beyond our core business activity. For example, we help communities to reduce flood risks, working with the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance members to secure lives and livelihoods.
Our community programs provide opportunities for our people to gain new experience and skills.
