As the ‘third line of defense,’ audit carries out independent reviews of Zurich’s risk management, and control and governance frameworks. This team is made up of the firm’s investment experts. They create value by managing Zurich’s own assets of about USD 200 billion. As such, they play a fundamental role in supporting life insurance and group employee pension plans. Led by the Group’s Chief Investment Officer, Investment Management globally comprises more than 350 people. About 120 of these are based in a central team in Zurich and regional teams in New York and Hong Kong. The others are part of local investment teams, led by chief investment officers.
