  • Actuarial
Actuaries are the math experts at the heart of our business. Working with statistics, they analyze trends, weigh risks and create models that allow us to make sound strategic decisions. They turn raw data into insights that enable our customers to identify, manage and finance their risks. To be an actuary, you’ll need a strong mathematical background and good business insight. If you have these skills or are interested in developing them and want to truly influence the lives of our customers, an actuarial career could be for you.
  • Audit
As the ‘third line of defense,’ audit carries out independent reviews of Zurich’s risk management, and control and governance frameworks. Auditors provide the Board with assurance that we’re properly managing our risk exposures. An auditor’s role goes beyond providing assurance. An auditor also makes sure proper control frameworks are in place, assists with the early identification of risks, and helps improve the efficiency of our operations. We have auditors at all levels in the firm, from regional leads to portfolio managers. This work covers every area of the business; if you want to have a broad impact, this could be the perfect career opportunity.

If you enjoy working with people, thrive on responsibility and are a keen analytical thinker, it could be the career for you.
  • Finance
Our finance specialists are responsible for sound financial planning, reporting and analysis. These activities provide the clarity and knowledge we need to make important decisions that foster growth and ensure our competitive edge. Across the business, our 4,000 finance professionals are recognized as trusted advisers. They work in a wide range of areas, from product development and business projects, to reinsurance and investments. Within Group Finance, strategic priorities are closely aligned with the firm’s aim to reduce complexity and boost profitability. The team is currently streamlining its operating model, including simplifying processes and integrating systems. This will free up more time to focus on business analytics and insights. If you’re ambitious and you have the drive and skills to spot opportunities and make the most of them to add value, now’s the time to join.

  • Investment Management
This team is made up of the firm’s investment experts. They create value by managing Zurich’s own assets of about USD 200 billion. As such, they play a fundamental role in supporting life insurance and group employee pension plans. Led by the Group’s Chief Investment Officer, Investment Management globally comprises more than 350 people. About 120 of these are based in a central team in Zurich and regional teams in New York and Hong Kong. The others are part of local investment teams, led by chief investment officers. Investment Management aims to help Zurich to be the best global insurance manager, as measured by our customers, shareholders and people. If you become a part of our team, you’ll play an active role in helping us to achieve this ambition.
  • Legal
The firm’s in-house legal advisers provide trusted, independent advice to minimize legal, regulatory and governance risks. They enable the business to achieve its strategic and commercial goals in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Legal is a centrally-led function with teams operating at global, regional and local levels. Everything they do is underpinned by their dedication to integrity, excellence and a desire to add real value for our customers. The team’s goal is to be the best provider of in-house legal, regulatory and governance services in the insurance industry. It’s a goal your expert contribution will help us achieve.
  • Marketing and Communications
Our marketing and communications teams are Zurich’s storytellers. Their expertise brings Zurich’s key messages to life in fresh and interesting ways. Within the function, our brand marketing team focuses on enhancing our global brand. Our communications team specializes in building and protecting the firm’s corporate reputation, both internally and externally. Whichever team you join, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the Group’s strategic objectives and business goals.
  • Operations and Information Technology
Operations and IT are strategic partners, playing a central role in Zurich’s future success in an environment of rapidly-changing technology. To deliver industry-leading capabilities, they’re leading five major transformation programs. These will improve data management and analytics, streamline our processes, enhance our IT effectiveness and application development, and strengthen talent management. It’s a truly exciting time to join. Whatever your role, you can expect to stay on top of emerging technologies, while delivering the high level of service expected by internal customers.
  • Reinsurance
Reinsurance serves to transfer risk from the primary insurer to others, and in doing so provides protection for insurance companies. Operating out of Switzerland, North America and Bermuda, our reinsurance teams reduce our exposure to losses by passing a clearly defined part of a risk to a reinsurer. Join them and help provide market-leading insights that support capital efficiency and help to manage volatility at Group level.
  • Risk Engineering
Risk engineering is one of the most crucial roles in our business. Working across the globe, risk engineers help our customers to identify and improve how they manage risks. The team supports customers by helping them to reduce the likelihood of large losses and improve business continuity. Risk engineering plays an important role in helping underwriters to correctly price risks. The team also helps to reduce claims by avoiding losses, mitigating risk and helping to minimize unjustified claims. If you’re looking for a role that offers variety and opportunity, risk engineering could be for you.
  • Risk Management and Security
Zurich’s success is built on taking risks. But not every risk is the same. Risk management’s mission is to make sure there’s a strong culture of disciplined risk-taking across the Group. That means making sure every risk we take is transparent, understood, and justified. Risk management is at the heart of Zurich’s ‘cultural transformation’ program. Join the team and you’ll play a valuable role, helping people to perform at their best and make a difference to those around them.
  • Sales and Distribution
Sales and distribution specialists are on the frontline of profitable growth. They make sure Zurich delivers the high level of service our customers and distributors expect from us. Sales and distribution functions vary from country to country, as do the roles performed by this team by analyzing customer needs and providing advice to help to find the right solutions, support independent distributors, developing commercial activities, and managing sales. If you love working with people and want a career offering variety, you may want to become one of our sales and distribution specialists.
  • Underwriting
Underwriters evaluate risks and determine the prices and terms to cover – or underwrite – those risks. They then work with people inside and outside the company to provide the right insurance to the right customer. Underwriters seek to out-perform markets through superior risk selection and pricing. This means they have to know how to identify well-managed, quality risks that the business can insure profitably. Zurich has underwriters in every part of our global business. Our insurance lines include: casualty, motor and personal, property, engineering, marine and special lines. Join our underwriters and you’ll be part of a team that’s as diverse as our products and services.
