Together with over 150 years of insurance expertise, AI is transforming the industry across the value chain from enhancing risk assessment, to claims handling, to personalization and more.
Responsible AI
Zurich is aware that we need to be mindful of the ethical challenges around data and AI by ensuring fairness and privacy, with transparency and clear accountability. We will always initially develop and explore large language models (LLMs) with synthetic data only, in a safe and controlled (private) environment and with the human “in the loop.” Our Data Commitment and AI Assurance Framework (AIAF) further emphasizes our goal to inspire digital trust:
Data Commitment: Through our industry-leading Data Commitment, launched in 2019, Zurich publicly pledges to customers and any individuals who communicate with us to:
- Keep their data safe
- Never sell their personal data
- Never share their personal data without being transparent about it
- Only put their data to work so Zurich can better protect them so they can get the most out of life.
AI Assurance Framework (AIAF): All AI usage is governed by Zurich’s AI Assurance Framework (AIAF). Launched in late 2022, this new industry-leading framework establishes integrated governance mechanisms to provide assurance for the deployment of solutions using AI and machine learning in line with the OECD AI Principles’ definition of AI:
