Zurich adapts format of 2020 Annual General Meeting following ban on events to curb spread of Covid-19 virus
- Annual General Meeting to take place April 1 without shareholders present
- Shareholders can exercise their voting rights by providing instructions to the independent voting rights representative
Zurich Insurance Group Ltd (Zurich) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 1, 2020.
Following a ban on events in Switzerland and in line with Covid-19 related legal provisions, the AGM will be held without the presence of shareholders. Shareholders can exercise their voting rights by providing instructions to the independent voting rights representative electronically or in writing.
These measures will enable the Group to conclude the 2019 financial year as well as enable shareholders to approve the payment of the proposed dividend of CHF 20 per share.
The Swiss authorities this week declared the outbreak of the Covid-19 coronavirus an “extraordinary situation” and prohibited events until at least April 19, 2020.
“We regret not having the opportunity to interact with our shareholders directly, but extraordinary times require extraordinary measures and we will play our part to protect public health,” said Zurich Chairman Michel M. Liès.
